Believe it or not typographic projects are happening within the walls of many advertising agencies. In fact, some agencies are hiring typographers in house in order to spearhead typographic projects. Pagan will discuss the role of the typographer within an agency setting, while highlighting some typographic work various agencies are doing.
Juan Carlos Pagan is a New York based Designer, and Typographer. In 2006 he received his BFA in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design, and in 2011 he completed his studies as part of the inaugural class of Type@Cooper. Juan is currently the Design Director at Deutsch New York and a Partner at the Brooklyn based design studio Pagan & Sharp. Prior to Deutsch Juan served as Head of Design at DDB New York. His clients have included The New York Times Magazine, ESPN Magazine, Print magazine, Pinterest, The New York Lottery, and Water is Life.
His work has been recognized by The Art Directors Club, The Type Directors Club, Cannes Lions, The One Club, D&AD, The Clios, Print Magazine, Paste Magazine, and Communication Arts Magazine. In 2012 he was named a Creative You Should Know by Creativity Online and AdAge. In 2013 Juan was the recipient of the ADC Young Guns 11 Award, and was listed in the top 10 of Adweek’s Talent 100.
