Roger Black is one of the organizers of Typographics Conference, and leads off with a welcome to all participants—on the stage and in the hall. He describes some of the themes that will be covered, and talks about what he is expecting to learn.
Starting with LA in 1972, Roger Black has been chief art director or design consultant for publications of all kinds, all over the world. Among them: Rolling Stone, Outside, New York, New York Times, Newsweek, Esquire, Fast Company, Smart Money, Reader’s Digest, Los Angeles Times, MSNBC.com, Bloomberg.com, The Washington Post, Semana (Colombia), Panorama (Italy), The Straits Times (Singapore), Kompas (Indonesia), Tages Anzeiger (Switzerland), Placar (Brazil), Svenska Dagbladet (Sweden), Nomad Editions, Scientific American, and Always On Network.
Now he’s helping the Font Bureau in Asia and is playing a larger role in its design and marketing efforts. Roger spends some down-time at homes in Hong Kong, Pass-a-Grille, Florida, and Marathon, Texas.
