Reining in the type at a giant portal like Yahoo is no easy job. That’s one of the things Jackie Goldberg has trying to do there since arriving as a design director in 2011. From native products to web products, ads to original exclusive editorial content, Yahoo provides a great variety of text formats—all for hundreds of millions of users daily. She’ll cover her approach, and offer some tips for typography designed for scale.
Jackie Goldberg is a designer in California, currently at Yahoo! leading design for media. Previously she was Creative Director at Hewlett-Packard, Design Director with Roger Black, and led interactive and editorial design projects for Microsoft, News Corporation, Hearst Corporation, Condé Nast, the Los Angeles Times, MIT Technology Review, Ford Motor Company, and Estee Lauder Companies among others. Publication credits include catalogues for the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, the Guggenheim Museum, and Centre Georges Pompidou.
